How the Multiple Intelligences profile works

The framework

Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences (1983) proposes that human ability is better described as several relatively independent capacities than as one general factor. This inventory covers his eight core intelligences: Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Visual-Spatial, Musical, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and Naturalistic. The framework is widely used in education and self-development.

Scale construction and scoring

Each intelligence is measured by seven statements, 56 in total, answered on a five-point agree–disagree scale (0–4 points). A scale score is simply the share of its 28 possible points, shown as a percentage. All statements are phrased toward the intelligence they measure and anchored in concrete behavior — what you do and notice, not what you admire.

The relative profile is the result. Exact ties share a rank.

Where the profile is useful

A ranked strengths profile answers practical questions: which channel do you learn through most readily, which kinds of work will feel like signal rather than effort, and which underused channel might be worth deliberate practice. The written profile for your leading intelligences includes concrete ways to stretch each one.

Privacy and scoring transparency

Answers are scored in the browser. Downloading the PDF report sends the result to the report server, which builds the file and deletes it; no copy or order is kept unless you purchase a report. The scoring arithmetic above is the whole method; there is no hidden weighting.
